WAKE UP!

So many people have different ideas for weight loss. There is a plethora of diets and perfect workout routines. There is so many people everyone is different. What works for one person may not work for someone else.

But, what definitely doesn't work is the idea that muscles will become long. Magazines everywhere will have articles of developing long, lean legs. The length of a muscle is set between the point of origin of one bone to the insertion point of another bone.

Another thought is an overweight child will out grow the weight. This might be true for a six month old. Obesity in the youth has grown just as fast as the children are growing. Weight is not something that you out grow, like shoes. Children now are dealing with diseases that they have never had. Hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, fatty liver disease and other cardiovascular disease. Overweight children percentage is growing. Over 350 million 5-19 year olds were overweight in 2016. Thinking weight will 'disappear ' is only ignoring the facts.

Lose ten pounds in one week! Society is always looking for quick, instant fix. Losing that much weight in one week is not healthy and more then likely mostly water weight, under non-medical procedures. You did not gain the weight in a short time, you should not lose it quickly. Developing muscle strength and endurance takes time. Developing cardio endurance takes time. There are many components to living healthy than just the body size. Stop looking at just It takes every part to be healthy.

Weight is something that needs to be monitored. Nutrition needs to be adjusted to the physical activity of an individual. The less active a person is the less energy (food) they need. It is a double sided sword. The less you move, the less calories you eat, the lower your metabolism will drop. The lower the metabolism drops the less food you need. Being more physically active during the day helps encourage the metabolism to stay up. It tells the body it needs a higher level of energy to meet the demands for the day. Dietary fat is good. Protein is good. All carbohydrates are good. All in moderation. Eating a plate of broccoli is going to be better than eating a plate of white rice. But half a cup of rice with a cup of broccoli is a better balance and not boring. Lesson to be learned is stop grabbing parts of a healthy lifestyle. Parts of nutrition, parts of workouts, and parts of relaxation. Look at health as a whole, then you can start a better journey to an improved you.
